Artist Statement

Photography, for me, is about slowing down long enough to notice the moments most people walk past. I'm drawn to ordinary places and everyday subjects—architecture, landscapes, people, and objects—but I'm less interested in documenting what they look like than in capturing how they feel. I often photograph scenes that convey solitude, curiosity, or quiet beauty, searching for compositions that transform familiar environments into something more reflective. Whether I'm standing beneath a building looking toward the sky or discovering interesting textures in a bridge covered with locks, my goal is to encourage viewers to pause and see the world from a different perspective.​

I rely heavily on composition to communicate those ideas. Leading lines, framing, symmetry, and perspective are recurring elements throughout my work because they naturally guide the viewer's eye while creating a sense of depth and balance. I frequently photograph in black and white, allowing light, texture, and contrast to become the focus rather than color. When I do choose color, it is intentional, preserving moments where vibrant tones are essential to the mood of the image. Most of my photographs use available natural light, with minimal editing beyond refining contrast, recovering detail, and strengthening the overall atmosphere. I want the final image to feel authentic while still reflecting the emotions I experienced when I captured it.

Ultimately, my photography is an extension of how I approach storytelling. As a filmmaker, I believe every frame should have purpose, and I bring that same philosophy into my still images. Each photograph is an invitation to stop, observe, and find meaning in places that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through careful composition and thoughtful observation, I hope my work reminds viewers that beauty is rarely found in extraordinary places alone—it often exists in the quiet moments hidden within everyday life.
